As I wrote about recently, Online Business Owner is the main media company I’m building as I move forward in the media space.

While I have a variety of minority positions, I believe my biggest oppertunity was to go “all in” on a single majority position that could also aid and help the minority positions.

The following is the vision of OnlineBusinessOwner.com, how it will work and how we move forward. This is a rare behind the scenes of how I work with a business to give an overview in a clear way without a lot of the B.S that isn’t needed.

This is the version that along with phone calls with team paints the super high level vision that then can be broken down into projects and into execution of the vision.

Further, this vision helped us raise capital for Online Business Owner at a $7 million dollar valuation one that I believe is both fair and more than achievable to surpass.

OBO (Online Business Owner) is already cashflow positive, has a very strong audience and is about to be “known” in the space in a pretty massive way.

After running media companies, acquiring them, exiting and seeing the opportunity to build a media-centric company that is built on helping others do what they do best we believe we are poised to build a business that serves to fill a massive gap in the Online Business Owner space. 

The following are the various lines of business and how Online Business Owner will work connecting those who are looking for help as an Online Business, to those that are Online Business Owners that offer help and everyone in-between. 

Lead Generation Platform | Launch: Summer 2024 

One of the biggest issues for those who generate leads in the Online Entrepreneur space is being able to ensure you are targeting the right people. 

By casting a massively wide net we are going to use our series of lead magnets, content, social media and newsletters to create a super high level of lead flow. 

From this lead flow, we will both build our audience, while also being able to automatically using our proprietary technology to sell back those leads to other Entrepreneurs and Companies looking for validated leads that are looking for what they are selling.

Top 2% Attention Accelerator | Launch: Summer 2024 

Majority of the the top experts, influencers, software companies, certifications and those who help the Online Space desire the ability to diversify their lead flow, increase their attention, alongside of authority. 

We created our Attention Accelerator that includes packages that allows for those companies to build their brand, increase guaranteed lead flow and be in front of the Online Business Owner audience and the Online Business Owner networks. 

OBO Plus+ | Launch: Fall 2024 

We want to create a scenario where every single person who is an online entrepreneur can be part of an enhanced experience of OnlineBusinessOwner.com 

This includes a community, the ability to be discovered in our directories and allows for someone to start for just $1. 

Our opportunity with this is to help someone 10X their investment ($9/month) quickly, creating a positive feedback loop for other parts of Online Business Owner while being able to collect additional data for segmentation and partnerships.

OBO Verified | Launch: Late Fall 2024 

One of the biggest issues and challenges with being an Online Entrepreneur is being able to ensure that someone knows that you are a real business. 

Further, today it’s very difficult to understand if someone is worth while to hire and is who they say they are. 

Our verified program allows for someone to get a level of attention and authority, while introducing them to the perks and benefits of Online Business Owner for less than $1,000. 

This will be our flagship program that anyone can be part of that doesn’t exist in our industry. 

This will be sold, at the beginning via the phone after the launch of OBO Plus+.

Sponsorships | Launch: Winter 2025

While our overall model is not directly sponsorship based, upon reaching critical mass (250K+ email subscribers) we will allow for larger sponsorship campaigns from larger 8-10 figure brands that want to get in front of our audience. 

While we will be pushing our attention program, as above, we will allow for introduction of sponsorships to a select number of brands that we believe add to the appeal of both the audience, while also allowing us to build more brand equity in the market. 

As we own Sponsorships.com, we will also be fielding opportunities from this platform allowing us to easily recommend it to brands wanting to use Sponsorships. 

Through our newsletter, podcast and social media network we will also have advertising space to be able to have economies of scale for sponsorships allowing for additional viewership, clicks and performance. 

Newsletter Network: Fall 2024 

While we have our own newsletter(s) our strategy around newsletters is to provide the end-user with the opportunity to find the “best of” newsletters for where someone is in their business.

From 9-5, to startup, to full on scaling a 7+ figure business. 

In order to do this, without creating a massive amount of overhead we are partnering with existing newsletters. 

No cash is exchanged hands, but rather advertising spots, audience swapping and the ability to help the newsletter exit in the future with a 15-30% exit fee allows for us to provide massive lead flow to Online Business Owner, alongside the owner of the newsletter and amazing content for our subscribers and audience. 

We are launching with 15 newsletters in our network and we expect at completion we will have 50 newsletters in our network. 

Blog/Content Network: Spring 2025 

Same as above, but launching later in 2025. 

Podcast Network: Spring 2025 

Same as above, but launching later in 2025. 

Social Media Network: Winter 2025 

Same as above, but launching later in 2025. 

Discovery Platform: Summer 2024 - Winter 2025 

A massive problem in the online space? Being able to discover what you are looking for in order to grow the business. 

We are building an entire discovery platform that allows for someone to find exactly what they are looking for classified under 6 different categories (with the potential to expand). 

  • Experts

  • Tools

  • Programs

  • Products 

  • Workforce 

  • Books

This directory will link up with our attention accelerator, OBO Plus+ and verified programs allowing for those who want additional attention to obtain it. 

At the moment, this doesn’t exist and we believe this can become the “hub” for the entire industry for discovery. 

Job Discovery: Summer 2025 

Attempting to find the “right” people isn’t easy as an Online Business Owner. 

Further finding jobs and contracts for those doing the work can be difficult in the online space. 

While there are plenty of job boards, we want to build one with the emphasis for those who are Online Entrepreneurs and those looking to work at smaller Online Businesses. 

Right now, this is a massive gap that hasn’t been filled and we believe it needs to be solved. 

Later, we will partner with certifications for various classifications (example: Funnel Builder) to allow for those who want to get certified to be able to be “boosted” in their authority and ranking. 

Merchandise Shop: Fall 2024

With the amount of audience and community we are building we believe that a merchandise shop utilizing memes and humor will take off and allow for people to be in the “club” with merchandise. 

We will be using a vendor that utilizes print on demand, ensuring that we need no inventory or upfront costs. 

OBO Specialists: Winter 2025

Most of the time Entrepreneurs don’t know their direction, who to hire, what programs to take or how to grow. 

This is where OBO specialists will come in. 

When new users enter OBO they will go through an onboarding process, along with a direct contact with OBO. 

This person will be responsible for taking a look at their profile, what’s happening in their business and then personally recommending offers, tools and direction. This will correlate with our Attention Accelerator program along with our partners, giving lead flow and referrals that will be highly valued for both parties. 

Team Overview

Our intention is to have a small team of less than a dozen people run OnlineBusinessOwner.com. We believe that a large team isn’t needed for the vision of Online Business Owner. 

As of the moment, the entire team is shared with the team that runs my Scott Oldford personal brand and that helped us build the Wisdom Media network allowing for a high level of understanding of vision and competence in bringing the vision to reality. 

Financials & Investment 

We don’t believe as we grow that we will require additional outside investment. 

As of the moment I own about 65% of the equity of Online Business Owner with the remainder being owned by other investors and team. 

We do believe that Online Business Owner will surpass 7-figures in 2024 and can easily grow to $4-5M in 2025 as we are fully focused. With my track record in building businesses, I see this as being more than achievable along with having healthy profit while scaling.

As we have the network, connections and brokers, our goal is to sell for at least $30 million by 2027. In order to achieve this number on a conservative basis we would need $4.5M EBITA and over an active audience of 1 million Entrepreneurs. However, we aren’t building the business with sale as the only option and are open to keeping the brand as it supports all other businesses in our ecosystem and portfolio.

Scott Oldford v. Online Business Owner Brand 

My Brand (www.scottoldford.com) is wrapped heavily inside of the Online Business Owner brand and for 2024-2025 will heavily rely on my network and existing audience. As we continue to grow, this will continue to separate allowing me to simply be another expert on the platform, versus the main expert of the platform. 

What we need help with at the moment…

  1. We need help growing our audience and being able to be in front of new audiences. By the end of the year, we want to have an audience of over 1 million entrepreneurs including our network and 250,000 with Online Business Owner by itself.

  2. We need help getting people into OBO Plus+, OBO Certified and our Top 2% program. We will be officially launching these in the coming months.

  3. We need help getting new newsletters, podcasts and blogs into our network program, we currently have 15 signed up for our newsletter network and 7 in our podcast network.
